Client preparation

A little preparation makes the appointment simple.

Use this practical checklist before a mobile notary appointment. Confirm document and witness instructions with the recipient or attorney; the requested notarial act must still meet California requirements.

Before we meet

Three things to have ready.

Tap each item to review the appointment requirements.

IdentificationBring acceptable identification

Each signer must personally appear and present acceptable identification as required by California law. Have it ready before the appointment begins. Contact California Local Notary Service in advance if there is any question about ID.

Complete documentHave the document ready

Bring the complete document. For a jurat, wait to sign in the notary’s presence. An acknowledgment may cover an existing signature, but the signer must personally appear and acknowledge it. A notary cannot choose your document, tell you what it means, or give legal advice.

Signers & witnessesConfirm all signers and witnesses

Every person whose signature will be notarized must be present. Some documents require witnesses; the document recipient, attorney, or preparer should tell you whether witnesses are needed and whether they may also be signers.

Before your notary appointment, check three things: your ID, signing instructions, and that you have every page and every signer. Call or text 714-224-1822.

Acknowledgement or jurat?

An acknowledgement and a jurat are different notarial acts. The document recipient, attorney, lender, or preparer should identify the required certificate. California Local Notary Service can perform the requested act but cannot decide which one your document requires.

For loan signings

Have all borrowers present with identification and follow the escrow, title, or lender instructions. Share any printing, scanback, shipping, courier, or drop-off details when requesting the appointment.

What we protect

The essentials for a prepared notary visit.

Four essentials for a smooth appointment. Tap a topic for details.

Identity & personal appearance

Every signer must be personally present with acceptable identification. We do not notarize an absent person’s signature.

Willingness & awareness

We speak directly with the signer and confirm that the person appears willing, alert, and able to participate—especially important in hospital and senior-care settings.

Prepared documents

Bring the complete document and confirm the required certificate and any witnesses with the attorney, lender, agency, or document preparer before the appointment.

Privacy & professional boundaries

Text appointment details, not photos of IDs or sensitive documents. We handle notarial and logistical questions; document selection and legal-effect questions belong with the responsible professional.

If a required appointment condition cannot be confirmed, we will explain what is missing and may need to reschedule. That protects the signer, the document, and the transaction.
