Deed preparation guide
Preparing for a deed notarization.
Deed signings can be straightforward, but the right preparation avoids a wasted trip or an incomplete recording package.
Appointment guidance from California Local Notary Service. For official requirements, consult the California Secretary of State notary handbook.
1. Confirm the document is ready
A notary cannot choose the deed, fill in legal information, determine ownership, or advise whether the deed should be recorded. Confirm those questions with an attorney, escrow officer, title professional, or document preparer before scheduling.
2. Bring identification and know who signs
Every person receiving a notarial act needs acceptable identification and must appear in person. Confirm whether the document instructions require witnesses and whether all signers will meet at one location.
3. Completed-document delivery
After notarization, we can arrange transport of a completed document to a designated recorder, agency, carrier, or recipient. That is a courier service only; agency fees are separate and legal filing preparation is not included.
